The welcome news on 15 August was the move to Level 2 of the Risk Adjusted Strategy.
Although there are still a few strange restrictions, it means that the economy can open up further. Hopefully it will improve trading for our industry – and, most importantly, help your business to recover and survive.
Unfortunately, the damage has been done and recovery won’t happen overnight as Covid 19 is far from over.
Needless to say, we have to stay vigilant and observe all safety rules!
The shop-sa board will continue to give you helpful information in our weekly and monthly news, as well as arranging issue-specific Webinars, like the one hosted by Labour Net in July.
Please let us know which other topics you would like to cover going forward.
Following the successful State of the Industry Survey we conducted in June, we are sending out another very important survey on Back to School (BTS) 2021: Expectations As A Result Of Covid-19.
The survey will be in two segments: 1) suppliers/vendors and 2) retailers and school suppliers. Your participation and feed-back will assist our industry in their decision making. We can only urge you to participate!
Finally, some of the “old hands” in the industry will remember Roy de Wet, who passed away in June after a series of strokes, aged 80.
Roy was one of the “characters” in our industry, from 1967 with Stenotype to Jonrod (Mr. Rubberband) and finally Trefoil, which his partner Alan Robertson took over, when Roy “retired” in 2005.
One of my memories of Roy is that you heard him, before you saw him – and, as a black belt in karate, his slap on the back almost knocked one over!
