Lexmark contemplates split
Lexmark International could be following HP and splitting its business, according to Reuters.
According to an unnamed source, Lexmark has explored the sale of the whole company, but a potential buyer has not yet been found. It is therefore considering divesting its hardware and software assets separately. Whereas Lexmark’s hardware business has been hit by a decline in sales of printing hardware, its software business is expanding.
Reuters adds that private equity firms are now having conversations with Lexmark about acquiring either its hardware or software assets.
