A Brief History 

Société Bic, (commonly referred to as BIC), is a company based in Clichy, France and represented in many countries throughout the world.  BIC® is best known for making ballpoint pens and was founded in 1945 by Baron Marcel Bich. It has become known for making disposable consumer products such as stationery, lighters, shavers, firelighters and printed paper products. The BIC Company went public in 1958 when it was listed on the French stock exchange. The Bich family currently owns about 45% of Bic stock and controls 55% of its voting power.BIC South Africa (Pty) LTD operates from it premises at 2234 Albertina Sisulu Road, Industria, Gauteng, South Africa. The business operations are managed by Directors and reports into a MEA Head office.

The BIC® brand

The BIC® brand was formed in 1945 by Marcel Bich in France and reflects the simplicity of function, the ingenuity of design and the leader of disposable products in the categories of writing instruments, shavers and lighters.
