The 109th Annual General Meeting of the BOSS Federation took place on 4 June 2014 at Stationers’ Hall, London. Following the traditional 2 years tenure as BOSS Chairman, Alan Ball has stepped down from the BOSS Board. Sean Starkey, Managing Director of Durable UK Ltd and Vice Chairman of the BOSS Federation for the last 12 months, has been appointed as BOSS Chairman.
BOSS CEO, Michael Gardner, commented, “I am delighted to be working with Sean and the BOSS board over the next two years to continue the excellent work the Federation is doing on behalf of the industry.”
Sean Starkey said, “I am delighted to take on the Chairmanship of our fine Federation and thank the Board and our members for their confidence in me. I aim to serve with energy and drive and welcome the opportunity to work with such a high quality Board.”
The BOSS Board thank Alan for his contribution to the industry and welcome Sean as the new Chairman.
Over 100 guests from all sectors of the office products industry attended the day which kicked off with an invitation-only CEO Conference hosted by ex-Olympic rower and corporate team development specialist, Steve Turner. Turner guided delegates through the four disciplines of a healthy organisation and stressed the importance of creating clarity.
Following a successful appearance at the BOSS Young Managers’ Conference held in April, young entrepreneur Jules Quinn then took to the floor once more to delight delegates with her fascinating story of how she started her own design-led tea company: The TeaShed. By thinking outside the box and having the passion and belief to follow through with an idea, she has developed a successful business and offered an inspirational lesson to the CEOs of our industry.
Guest of Honour, Geoff Betts, was celebrated for his contribution to the industry and entertained those at the Chairman’s Luncheon with his own version of Don McLean’s American Pie, complete with lyrics starring a vast array of OP companies.
Past Chairman of the BOSS Federation were congratulated for their service and awarded lifetime membership certificates to the Federation in the form of becoming a ‘BOSS Fellow’.
