Over 60 principal guests hailing from the South African paint industry, were invited to join the brand in identifying, congratulating and honouring the top performers over the past 12 months.
Now in its third year, the sophisticated yet relatively informal cocktail soirée was hosted at The Syrene Hotel, in Rivonia. Purely focused on Dulux Trade Customers for the Gauteng region, by default, a number of leading paint contractors hailing from across the country ~ were in attendance. Direct Accounts and Specialist Paint Centres were also present to celebrate the successes of the past fiscal period, despite the ongoing trials of the prevailing paint market.
And the winner is:
A number of award categories were presented, together with an individually designed trophy.
The categories presented were as follows:
• Big Million Club: Membership based on achieving paint buy exceeding R1-million on an annual basis, of which 23 places were presented

Says Leon Jacobs, Dulux Trade Manager, Gauteng, “Enormous challenges continue to impact upon the local contractors and landscape, owing to the combined effects of the Global economic crisis and the overflow of construction fines. Dulux Trade Gauteng has been fortunate to show growth in this volatile and mostly depressed paint market.”
Jacobs expounds that this could be attributed to a shift in market share, along with a strong focus on specified trade. Furthermore, 2013 saw many significant projects in Gauteng, as well as a number of regional shopping centres throughout South Africa, arise under the Dulux Trade banner.
“Dulux Trade Gauteng’s noteworthy achievements of the past year include: involvement in the Ernst & Young building in Sandton; continued sustainability drive on a number of prominent Green buildings, and last but not least ~ the team’s performance with best growth in the country,” concludes Jacobs.
The horizon for 2014:
Looking at the year ahead (2014) in terms of commercial and progressive plans in the pipeline; Jacobs shares that Dulux is committed to continuing to grow its share of the Gauteng trade business, which is clearly evident in the number of primary contracts, presently being awarded to the brand directly. “There are a number of exciting developmental campaigns, which we look forward to revealing, within the coming months,” concludes Jacobs.
