Günter Schwanhäußer has died

Günter Schwanhäußer, inventor of the STABILO BOSS highlighter pen, died on Friday 12 September at the age of 86 following a brief illness. In the more than fifty years of his professional career from 1950 to 2003, the pen pioneer made an enormous contribution to the global expansion of the company Schwan-STABILO, which has been family owned since 1865. His attitude was pragmatic: “The best thing is to knuckle down and get the job done”.

After various celebrities’ accounts on Apple’s iCloud servers were hacked, the company has made a point of addressing these issues. It has made new claims for the security of iOS 8, the firm’s latest phone operating system, and for its cloud services. Similarly, Google announced the next version of its Android phone operating system will encrypt all data by default. But what sort of security do these measures provide?

Keith Levenstein, CEO of BEE advisory firm, EconoBEE is calling upon the dti minister to issue a notice as soon as possible about the status of the sector codes, the Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSE) codes and the amended codes. The intention is that the amended codes will come into effect on 1st May 2015. The problem is that sector codes and the QSE codes (businesses with a turnover of R5m to R35m) have not yet been issued, with just over seven months to go to the start date.

Several shoe companies, including Nike, Feetz, and United Nude, are now using 3D Printing technology to give customers shoes that are custom made for them — in the store, on the spot.
